Frequently Asked Questions
A Softub is the most comfortable spa on the market today. It is constructed of a super high density insulation. The Softub is so sturdy you can sit or stand on the edge. Yet it weighs only 45 to 80 pounds, depending on the model. The bottom is constructed of high-density foam so it is soft. Your feet sink in, giving you traction; and the Softub conforms to your shape when you sit down.
Softub is the most economical spa on the market today. First, the Softub runs on household current (110 v) no special plumbing or wiring is needed. The unique heating system uses heat recovered from the pump motor to heat the water. Electric motors operate at 160-180 degrees. We use Solely that wasted heat thereby eliminating the heating element and its costly repairs and replacement. The walls are constructed of six inches of closed cell foam insulation. The lid fits snuggly to minimize heat loss and folds. Some Softub customers even use solar power to operate their Softubs. Typical electrical costs are between LESS THAN $7 a month and the Softub IS HOT ALL THE TIME ALL MONTH.
The Softub, like every spa requires proper water
treatment. You must maintain proper pH levels and use a sanitizer to
purify the water. Starting with the 2003 models, all Softubs have an ozone
generator built into the motor unit, minimizing the amount of sanitizer needed.
Yes, the Softub and its power pack are simply connected by hose clamps. Simply fill it with a garden hose, plug it in, put the lid on and in about 24 hours you are enjoying your Softub.
In 1986, Softub expanded and began selling Softubs nation wide. Dave, the owner of Softub of Phoenix, began selling and servicing Softubs in 1990 and became the Northwest Regional Service Center in 1993.
The exterior of the Softub is made of Marine Grade exterior vinyl called Leathertex (which is used in boat tops). A separate blocking Ultraviolet light (UV) cover is available. Softubs sit outside year round in Montana, Alaska, Phoenix and Southern California. Extremes in temperature and humidity do not effect the Softub, or its soothing hydrotherapy.
Yes, a 1 or 1.5 horsepower pump and motor are used to move the water thru the Softub. There are optional jets available (under $20) that vary the water flow or give a message action.
Most people like the water temperature between 102 and 104 degrees. The thermostat controls the temperature so you set the temperature where you prefer it. Most Doctors recommend being in a spa for not more than 15 to 20 minutes at temperatures above 100 degrees. You should consult your doctor as to times and temperatures for your Softub.
